The Lower World is out now!

The fourth Millipede full-length album, The Lower World, is out now! It is available now as a download in whatever file format you prefer through bandcamp with a tape version to follow at the end of July also available for pre-order. With the pre-order of the tape you get the download of the album right now. This is the second album in a planned trilogy focusing on the dark fantasy world explored on 2011's Realms. It was constructed at home in my studio from January 2011 to December 2012. Worth noting is that it is the first Millipede album to veer away from the all mono recordings used on the previous three albums and preceeding splits, tapes, etc. It was constructed using only hand cut tape loops of layered guitar recordings. There are no keyboards, no pianos, nothing else. Any sound you hear on this album was made with a guitar. It is also the first album where there are compositions featuring different guitars than my usual 90s model Fender Jazzmaster. It's cover art is a sort of obvious nod to the art featured on some of the early Slowdive 12"singles, that band having been a constant source of inspiration to this project since day one. Both "Bastard Sword" and "Sorceress" are final (and more brief) versions of songs that were worked on live in much longer forms with the help of cohorts/collaborators Jerry Reed, Cain Blanchard, and Ben Roeske and couldn't have been completed without their input. Finally, it may be of interest that "Sorceress" is my farewell to the late Trish Keenan of the band Broadcast. I didn't know her in this life but her music, presence in this world, and eventual death has affected my own family greatly over the last decade.

Hope you enjoy the record. Now I'm going to get back to work on the third record for this trilogy. Hopefully it won't take another two years.
